This panel will discuss the institutional and structural conditions that maintain the academic industrial complex. This dialogue will produce our own understandings of how the academic industrial complex functions, and what those processes mean for women of color scholars. Social Justice, Ethnic Studies, and Women’s Studies 2:00 — 4:00 pm University Club, Michigan Union Piya Chatterjee, Ruthie Gilmore, Clarissa Rojas This panel will discuss the discourses surrounding women of color scholars. Our conversation will draw from the political histories women of color scholars have helped build and the hegemonic frameworks negotiated by women of color scholarship. We will also discuss the relationship between social justice, scholarship, community work, and campus-based organizing.
